200-Hour Kriya Yoga Teacher Training

Course Description

Our 200-Hour Kriya Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh is a Yoga Alliance certified program for practitioners ready to move beyond physical asana into the meditative heart of yoga. Kriya Yoga is one of the most powerful and time-tested systems of inner transformation — a precise sequence of pranayama (breath), mudra (gesture), bandha (energy lock) and dhyana (meditation) techniques designed to purify the nervous system, awaken subtle energy, and lead the practitioner toward deep states of meditative absorption. Held on the banks of the Ganga in Ram Jhula, Rishikesh, this 28-day immersion is taught in the authentic tradition we have received through our guru lineage — passed down from Swami Sivananda to Swami Satyananda Saraswati and the Bihar School of Yoga. This is Kriya Yoga as a complete sadhana, not a watered-down weekend workshop. Students learn not only to practice the kriyas correctly and safely, but to understand the philosophy and energetics behind them deeply enough to guide others with confidence. A note on Kriya versus Kundalini: students often confuse the two. Kundalini Yoga, as widely taught in the West, is a dynamic style with repetitive movement, breath of fire and chanting. Kriya Yoga, by contrast, is quieter and internal — a systematic set of meditative techniques that work directly with prana and the chakras to still the mind. This training is grounded firmly in the classical, meditative Kriya tradition. Because Kriya Yoga is an advanced practice, we keep batches to a maximum of 10 students, ensuring the close personal mentorship these subtle techniques require. The course is ideal for yoga teachers, serious practitioners, and anyone with a steady existing practice who wishes to deepen their meditation, refine their pranayama, and teach from genuine inner experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kriya Yoga?

Kriya Yoga is a meditative system of yoga built from precise techniques — pranayama (breath), mudra (gesture), bandha (energy lock) and meditation — used to purify the nervous system, awaken subtle energy and lead the mind into deep states of meditation. It is an inner, energetic practice rather than a physically demanding asana style.

What is the difference between Kriya Yoga and Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga, as widely taught in the West, is a dynamic style with lots of repetitive movement, breath of fire and chanting. Kriya Yoga is quieter and internal — a systematic set of meditative techniques that work directly with prana and the chakras to still the mind. Our training is grounded in the classical, meditative Kriya tradition.

Do I need experience to join the Kriya Yoga teacher training?

Because Kriya is an advanced, subtle practice, we recommend a steady existing yoga and meditation practice — a 200-hour foundation or equivalent is ideal. All sincere, committed practitioners are welcome; contact us if you are unsure whether it is the right fit for you.

Which lineage is your Kriya Yoga from?

Our Kriya Yoga is taught in the tradition received through our guru lineage — passed from Swami Sivananda to Swami Satyananda Saraswati and the Bihar School of Yoga. It is taught as a complete sadhana, including the philosophy and energetics behind each technique.

Is the Kriya Yoga certificate recognised internationally?

Yes — the 200-Hour Kriya Yoga Teacher Training is Yoga Alliance certified, so your certificate is recognised worldwide.

How many students are in each Kriya batch?

We keep Kriya batches to a maximum of 10 students so every practitioner receives close, personal guidance with these subtle techniques.

What is included in the training?

Everything is covered: professional instruction, accommodation in a newly renovated ashram close to the Ganga, three homemade vegetarian meals per day plus snacks, yoga mats & props, course materials, and excursions in Rishikesh.
